Capionium date back to 1999. Newly graduated as a Pharmacist, I discovered an ancient mulled wine pharmacy recipe. It was obvious that family and friends should become both trial subjects and critics.

The reviews turned out extremely positive. Apparently, a mulled wine original like no other, had been created. What we didn't realize back then, was that I had made two significant errors while using the original recipe.

The errors were revealed the following year and promoted to “standard operating procedure” - the result of this unintended mulled wine "mutation" is capionium.

As time went by, the capionium gathering at my place developed into a yearly tradition, framing quality time with friends and family - and it still is.

Throughout the years, I have frequently been encouraged to engage in commercial production of capionium. 15 years after the first capionium was made, in 2013, a modest batch of 900 bottles finally reach the shelves.

Sommeliers, wine- and deli shops, gastronomes, chefs, Michelin chefs and most important, quality conscious ordinary people, has embraced capionium and rendered it possible for me to continue handcrafted small-batch production. (check out www.capionium.com for statements)

I can not guarantee that you will fall in love with capionium, what I can guarantee you, is an honest quality product based on good ingredients - made in Denmark.
